Friends of Sinawa

As you may know, Camp Sinawa was purchased in 1920 for the purpose of outdoor education and recreation for youth.  It was used almost exclusively for scouting for many years.  Due to a number of factors, Camp was somewhat neglected for a time, began to fall into disrepair and almost went bankrupt.  The land was on the verge of being sold to a development group.  Our dear neighbor, Georgia Kohlwey, was determined to step in and save this treasured land and it’s history.  In 1987, she formed a group of neighbors to provide financial and physical support to Camp Sinawa.  For over 35 years now, the Friends of Sinawa have hosted fundraising and community events, taught nature classes and helped with maintenance and building projects.  We are still in need of help in these ways.  

Whether you’re able to volunteer or not, your annual financial contribution would be greatly appreciated and put to good use.  The group is completely volunteer driven, so any contributions directly impact the camp maintenance and upgrades.  As a member, you’d receive newsletters and a standing invitation to our our meetings where we’d welcome your ideas, participation and votes.  You’d also be made aware of volunteer opportunities and specific needs to make camp the best it can be.  We are working hard to make some much needed improvements to our facilities and your talents and donations would be so helpful.  If you’d let us know what skills and help you could offer, we’d appreciate putting you on our list of people to call when we need a helping hand to fulfill our important mission.
