One of the historic buildings on this property is the boathouse right on the shore of Pigeon Lake.  The ground level is the storage area for the canoes and kayaks that we offer for our guests.  The upstairs was once a beautiful lodge space used year round by the scouts.  Unfortunately, a number of years ago, the roof was damaged in a storm.  There was enough insurance coverage to repair the roof, but the water damage inside was never dealt with.  The doors were locked and it was forgotten about.  It is currently unsafe and unusable.  We have a vision to restore this precious space to be used in a variety of ways.  It’s located right on the edge of the forest and the water, which provides a unique opportunity for outdoor education.  Families, friends, and youth organizations would utilize it as a space for gathering at the waterfront. It could also make a wonderful meeting space which could be rented out as an income stream.  As much as any other reason, it seems a shame to let a building with such a rich history and unique location simply sit neglected, falling further and further into disrepair.

For this dream to come to life, we are turning to our community and friends to ask for support.  Camp Sinawa is a 501(c)3 organization due to our commitment to outdoor education, recreation and preservation efforts.  Camp is also registered in Wisconsin as a charitable organization.  Any gifts are tax deductible.  All donors will be acknowledged on our website, in our newsletter, on social media and on display in the remodeled boat house. Our total fundraising goal for this project is $200,000. We are over half way there!  Any amount you can contribute would be much appreciated! You may be able to increase the impact of your support in just a few minutes of your time. Many employers match employees’ or retirees’ charitable contributions.
